Boosting careers in technology.
Capital One is an American financial corporation and one of the UK’s top ten card providers. In light of Capital One being recognised as more than just a financial company but also a technological business, the company wanted to promote awareness of the opportunities available in the Cyber and Tech teams, with particular emphasise on boosting female applicants in an area of industry that is undoubtedly dominated by men. Initially, two digital brochures were created featuring multiple click through links for ease of navigation, prioritising the companies Strategy Analyst and Software Engineer positions. Later, senior leaders and graduates were interviewed and from there the idea of a podcast was born. ‘Champions of Change’ is a six-episode series that addresses the realities of working in tech as a woman and how men can lend their support. Sonja Barlow, an award-winning entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, diversity coach and author and influencer on the UK tech scene hosted the podcast which heard from numerous female engineers at Capital One. The series addressed some of the challenges woman face in today’s tech industry and celebrates an organisation that prides itself on being a champion of change. So far, the campaign has generated an overwhelming positive response from candidates.
